The day is for lovers, and how best to celebrate a route already implies the complicity of the couple in their title. We talk about the Romantic Road, the Romantische Strasse, travel concocted over half a century ago, nearly three hundred miles, extending from the German city of Würzburg in the north to Fussen in the south, near the Austrian Alps. The route gets inspiration Tanhauser Wagner opera, but the proverbial Bavarian bustle, and traverses beautiful fortified buildings, roads and medieval halls and cellars of high rank.
