Puerto Montt – Southern Route

Capital of the Tenth Region of the Lakes, this large active port of 150,000 inhabitants is “km 0″ of the “carretera austral” traveling a thousand kilometers. The objective of this legendary road, whose construction began in 1976 titanic, was to connect the different municipalities of these remote regions of Chile.

Strait of Magellan

Gateway between the mainland and Tierra del Fuego, this mythical strait linking the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. It is crossed by ferry between Punta Delgada and Puerto Espora (30 min.) Or between Punta Arenas and Porvenir (2:20).
The island of Tierra del Fuego

This land, protected by several parks and reserves, remains a haven for wildlife: foxes, wolves and Magellanic penguins, wild horses, mountain lions, rodents and birds (geese, ducks, raptors). The island is divided between Chile and Argentina, with the famous Argentine side Ushuaia.

Navarino Island

It is located south of the island of Tierra del Fuego, along the Beagle Channel. Puerto Williams, Ushuaia is arguing with the title of the southernmost city in the world. This small port is located at the foot of a forested mountain known for its granite peaks called Navarino dientes.

Horn Island

Icon of maritime history has always been the mythical Cape Horn unefalaise of 425 m from the Horn Island, located south of the archipelago of Tierra del Fuego. It is reached by boat, including by Australis cruise.
