The Red Sea coast in Egypt is one of the most important destinations in the world in regard to diving and snorkeling. That’s why Sharm el Sheikh and Dahab, being the most important local destinations, began to worry about the temporary closure of the water activities of all kinds in the sea.
Several separate attacks have occurred in the area, and several people affected with more or less severe injuries. None of the reported cases has been fatal, but two of the victims have lost arms, the other lost his hand and suffered a heart attack during the attack but managed to be revived on the coast.
A diving instructor saw the whole scene up close and told how the shark tried to attack him first.
The presence of sharks in these areas is not surprising, but very rarely recorded attacks on humans. Indeed throughout the world there are only 9 records of attacks on the kind of shark found in the Red Sea coast. Is thought to be a different variety of shark and are carrying out searches to catch it and return it to the open ocean.
Tourism in the area will be highly affected by these events, and think you may have future implications in what is today the most important destination in the world in both diving and calm waters.
