If you are planning a safari holiday to Kenya, here are two of the most amazing safari destinations in the country:
Amboseli National Park
Amboseli National Park is one of the oldest national parks in East Africa and is situated at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, combining a fantastic safari experience with breathtaking scenery. The landscapes are diverse and stunning with a vast expanse of plains, swampland and wooded areas. Amboseli National Park is reputed to be one of the best places to watch elephants. As well as elephants some of the many other species resident in the park are buffalo, lion, gazelle, cheetah, wildebeest, hyena, baboon, warthog, zebra and giraffe, not to mention a large variety of different birds.
Safari holidays to this park are organized by The African Safari Club there are options from 2 to 7 nights safari. It is worth noting, however, that they cannot accommodate children under 6 years old.
Masai Mara
Masai Mara lies in the Great Rift Valley in South Western Kenya and, although it’s quite small compared to other national parks in Kenya, it is unfenced and so it’s occupants are free to roam outside of the reserve’s boundaries. This reserve is owned by the Maasai people themselves.
Masai Mara consists of a large number of ranches which are divided into groups. Some of the Maasai people still live in these ranch groups and, whilst on your safari holiday, you will have the opportunity to visit one of these Maasai communities and see how different their lifestyle is from our own.
Much of the land is very open which provides optimum viewing of the wild inhabitants. Again, the safaris are organized by The African Safari Club and you can choose how long or short you want your safari to be, as the club caters for between 2 and 7 nights of exciting safari experience.
