El Hierro is the smallest island, West and South of the Canary Islands and belongs to the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Iron, like the rest of the Canary Islands, is an island of volcanic origin although it is the only island of the archipelago which is still in the first phase of creation. In 2000 it was declared a world biosphere reserve by UNESCO.
The island is quite far from the concept of mass tourism due to its difficult access and the absence of large beaches. Generally, tourists who come to the island make it individually for practice trekking or so-called rural tourism.
Iron, is an island bathed by crystal clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean, where the lovers of diving come each year from around the world to photograph one of the best marine collections of the planet.
El Hierro can see volcanoes and lava fields, fertile valleys, impressive cliffs of up to 1,000 m tall and dense forests of plant species that still survive on the island since prehistoric times.
This privileged island is the ideal place to forget the stress and break the routine. Legends still speak of trees sacred island which in antiquity was considered the limit of the known world.
