A Berber tribe of Meknassi settled in the tenth century, the tribe gives rise to the name of Sultan Moulay Ismail town.The (1627-1727) makes his capital and built Meknes 25 kilometers of walls and monumental gates and its tremendous palace. During the rule of the Almohad Merenids and expands the Medina of Meknes and built various monuments.
